Our Parish Hall - 25 years on
The St. Andrew's Parish Hall last saw a major upgrade in Spring of 2020. Originally, there was a lean-to that provided a kitchen, but this was deemed insufficient for the upcoming usage that was thought possible at the time.
Thankfully, a lottery grant of £50,000 allowed an upgrade to take place that provided the hall with its much needed services and the hall has continued to make good use of these ever since.
With regular events such as quiz and race nights, a pudding club, a sewing club, the WI and various other organisation making good use of the facilities, the requirement for funding to allow the hall to be maintained and upkept to a standard that everyone can enjoy, is an ongoing challenge and something that as residents of Witham on the Hill, we must manage this ourselves. This is why the Committee strives to provide events throughout the year where all donations and other income are most welcome, regardless of their value. The legacy of the original lottery grant lives on in the form of a well used, community parish hall but not without your help.
As can be seen from these images, things have changed over the past 25 years but the requirement to fund the Hall never ceases. Similar to any household, our ongoing charges are in the form of regular electrical tests, heating oil, electricity bills and boiler servicing to name but a few. To account for these outgoings, we hold as many functions as possible for two reason; not only to fundraise for the hall, but also to bring the community together, whether that be in the form of a quiz or race night, bingo etc.
It would be marvellous to see as many of you as possible at these events where your entrance fee or donation will undoubtedly be most welcome and you can be assured that it will be put to good use.
We look forward to seeing you at the next gathering in your Parish Hall.
